Receive Salvation: How then does one become saved?
The Bible says:
Romans 10:8-11
But what does it say? "The word is near you, even, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is the word of faith which we preach); that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the mouth confession is made to salvation For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
Romans 10:13
For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Believing in your heart and making a simple confession with your mouth that Jesus is Lord is all you have to do to be saved. The great thing about calling on Jesus is that He will not put you on hold and make you wait for salvation. When you call upon Him by confessing Him as Lord of your life, you will be saved. There is no question about it. By now you might say, "Salvation is a free gift I cannot earn. Looking over my life, I can't say that I deserve to be saved."
A Prayer For Salvation - Accept Your Gift
Should you decide to accept the free gift of eternal life God has made available to you through Jesus, believe in your heart and say the following prayer with your mouth:
"Father, I confess that I am a sinner. I repent now and receive your son, Jesus, as my personal Lord and Saviour. I believe that He died for my sins and rose again on the third day. Help me now to walk in Your victory and obedience. In Jesus Name, Amen." If you just prayed the prayer above you are now born again. Nothing spectacular may have happened to you as you prayed and you may not feel any different from the way you felt two minutes before you prayed. But make no mistake, you are saved. Don't let anyone or (even you) convince you otherwise. When you leave this life, heaven will be your home.
Baptism
The Bible teaches us that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world that they have made a commitment to Christ. Matthew 28:19-20 "19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
